Hi, I'm Angie

Let’s have a cup of coffee together.

Welcome to my virtual office.

Welcome to my virtual office. I can usually be found on my side of your computer screen with a cup of coffee in my hand as we tackle some of the most difficult conversations about life.

Sometimes life derails us. Sometimes we derail ourselves.

We take on too much, make decisions to please others… We put our own well-being last. We look for solutions in our habits and unintentionally create more problems for ourselves.

Sometimes our past has stubbornly refused to be resolved. Our pain remains, takes control, dictates our day to day lives and relationships. The past can throw up roadblocks in the present, create barriers to our peace of mind, box us in and keep us from moving forward.

But words are powerful tools. Talking it out with someone who is empathic, objective and non-judgmental, someone who is always on your side, always ready to support you, is a first step toward getting your life back on track to the destination you choose. Because it is your choice. I’m here to respect your agency and help you empower yourself.

Our first task is building trust as we get to know one another over a relaxing cup of coffee. There will be more coffee (at least for me) as we step into your world and talk about all the worries of the present, the shadows of the past, and your fears for the future. Navigating the anxious thoughts and depressive emotions, the relationship issues and fallout from our experiences together, we will work together to find holistic, creative, multidimensional solutions as unique as those experiences.

I value your autonomy. I will abide by your consent. I will partner with you collaboratively as you navigate your life. I will use evidence-based practices to help you find coping skills and build tools to smooth the journey through life. You will cultivate trust in yourself and your own ability to chart a course to a rewarding future.

The coffee is on
and I'm waiting for your call.

Behind the cup of coffee…

get to know me a bit more:

Those who know me will tell you that my signature style is gentle… and direct. I lead first and foremost with empathy. I’m moved by people’s experiences, feel a desire to connect with others when I can see that they need it, and am able to sense what is necessary in a moment and apply my knowledge and skills to facilitate a healing and reparative process.

Throughout this process, I balance directness. I’m not going to dance around with you. It’s been my experience, both in life and in practice, that sugar coating is both inauthentic and unhelpful. So, you won’t get that from me.

I also find it essential to eliminate the cliche therapy-style wordiness we all hate. I’d drop a therapist like a hot potato if they used that stuff on me! I find it distancing and disconnecting.

And anyone who’s spent five minutes near me will tell you humor is an important and well-honed coping skill for me and one of my talents in the therapy space. I don’t find it to be an escape when leaned into at the appropriate moments. Instead, I think it’s a life-giving way to help ourselves through difficult times. What’s a good cup of coffee without a few laughs? Hopefully, we’ll have a few along the way.

Okay, time for the qualifications:

Go Dawgs! I’m a Georgia Bulldog. I first graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s in Speech Communications. I then went on to do my graduate work, also at UGA and received a Masters degree in Social Work. While in residence, I worked at Serenity Grove mental health and addictions rehabilitation facility in Athens, Georgia.

During my tenure in the Master’s Degree program, I was honored to be lifted up as a leader of my cohort. I was further honored to be inducted into UGA’s chapter of Phi Kappa Phi honor society.

Over ten years as an academic advisor at the University of Georgia rising through the ranks and in different academic departments taught me the importance of accurate assessment, efficient, practical solutions, and creative problem solving.

Following my successful matriculation from the University of Georgia with my Master’s Degree in Social Work, I continued my work at Serenity Grove as a clinician until accepting a higher position in academic advising at UGA. I continue to advise students in that position in addition to clinically treating clients at Petrichor.

TLDR

  • I like coffee. It’s the nectar of life.

  • Coffee is connective. Let’s have a cup together.

  • I like to help people who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting struggles, divorce, LGBTQIA+ life challenges, family conflict, grief, and trauma, to name a few things…

  • I’m gentle, but also direct: I don’t dance around (Unless it’s in circles… I am Greek, after all)

  • I think I’m pretty funny (see above). I like to laugh, even if it’s at my own jokes.

  • Therapy speak is not my style. I’d rather be authentic.

  • There are a bunch of experiences that make me confident I can help. Read about them up above if you want…
